Faith-Based Support for Emotional and Spiritual Healing

At Pura Vida Family Therapy in Opelika, Alabama, Christian counseling is more than a service—it’s a sacred journey of restoration, guided by biblical truth and clinical wisdom. I consider it a privilege to walk alongside individuals, couples, and families, offering Christ-centered therapy that blends Scripture with evidence-based practices. Whether you’re facing anxiety, grief, trauma, or relationship challenges, you’ll find a compassionate, faith-filled space where healing can begin.

Integrating Faith and Therapy, With Purpose

Jesus, the Great Counselor, modeled love, grace, and restoration—and that same heart is at the core of my counseling approach. Sessions may include prayer, Scripture-based reflection, and therapeutic interventions like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Informed Care, Person-Centered Therapy, and the Gottman Method for couples. Each plan is tailored to your unique needs, respecting where you are in your spiritual walk while addressing emotional and psychological concerns.

Christian counseling can help you:

  • Deepen your relationship with God

  • Process trauma and grief through a biblical lens

  • Strengthen marriages and family bonds

  • Gain emotional clarity and peace

  • Build resilience and restore hope

A Holistic & Respectful Approach

While my approach is rooted in Christian values, I warmly welcome clients from all walks of life. You will never be pressured to incorporate faith into sessions—your comfort, beliefs, and personal journey are always honored. If desired, I will walk with you in faith; if preferred, therapy can remain clinical in focus with the same level of care and excellence.

“Pura Vida,” meaning pure life, reflects a lifestyle of grace, simplicity, and intentional living—even in hardship. My goal is to help you rediscover joy, purpose, and peace, anchored in both faith and sound therapeutic care.

If you’re ready to begin a journey of emotional and spiritual renewal, I invite you to reach out today.  At Pura Vida Family Therapy, Christian counseling is more than a technique—it’s a calling. Let’s work together to restore your peace, renew your strength, and bring hope to every season of life.

Professional Background & Expertise

I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Colorado Christian University. During my time there, I was honored to be inducted into Chi Sigma Iota, an international counseling honor society that recognizes academic and professional excellence. I also hold a Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies from Liberty University, where I graduated summa cum laude, demonstrating my lifelong commitment to learning and excellence.

As part of my clinical training, I completed an intensive internship at East Alabama Mental Health Center—now Integrea—where I had the privilege of working with individuals facing a wide range of mental health concerns. My experience includes providing therapy for clients navigating trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, anxiety, and relationship struggles. These opportunities have shaped my clinical approach, allowing me to offer evidence-based, compassionate care to individuals, couples, and families.

In addition to my counseling work, I’ve served as a Court-Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) since 2022, advocating for the well-being of children in the foster care system. This role continues to fuel my heart for child advocacy and has strengthened my understanding of the complex dynamics that affect families in crisis.

Currently, I am a pre-licensed Marriage and Family Therapist practicing under the clinical supervision of Miranda Newman, LMFT (License #L622), as I work toward independent licensure. I welcome questions about my supervisor or the supervision process, and I remain deeply committed to ethical practice, professional growth, and offering a safe and supportive space for healing.
